Guy Bossard has always been a fan of Mother Nature and her work. During his childhood, he dreamed of becoming a winemaker, like his father and his grandfather before him. The 1970s saw the arrival of chemical fertilizers and weed killers into French agriculture, and many famers and vignerons turned to these modern methods to boost the quality and quantity of their crop. While it looked good from the outside, it became clear that the adverse effects had such a significant impact and it was not all as idyllic as it seemed.

In 1972, upon returning from his military service, Guy had the opportunity to take over a domaine that was free from all chemical and synthetic products. He decided to apply for organic certification and manage the estate through manual labour out of respect for the soil and the crop. To the surprise of neighboring winemakers, he was successful, despite the overwhelming challenges, hard work and long hours. It was only shortly afterwards receiving his certificate in organic viticulture that Guy began to become interested in biodynamics. He became fully certified with Demeter in 1996. The domaine is currently managed by Fred Niger Van Herck, who shares the same values and respect for organic and biodynamic culture.
