Florent Barichard , E & V Nesson - Les Terres d'Ocre

- Florent Barichard/ E. & V. Nesson

Appellations : Saint Pourçain - Vin de France - Vin de Pays du Val de Loire

After ten years of experience in France, New Zealand and South Africa, Florent Barichard set up shop in 2013 on the sandy soils of Châtel-de-Neuvre and the granite soils of Meillard. With the support of his aunt and uncle, Valerie and  Eric, who gave him just shy of half their vineyard estate, he established his domaine of 9.5 hectares, divided into 3.3 hectares of white varieties, including Chardonnay and Trésailler, as well as 6.2 hectares of Gamay and Pinot Noir.

He strives to maintain a level of sustainable viticulture, which can be highly intensive and labour driven work, but Barichard believes that if you are able to express the terroir in the best possible way, the wine will stand up on its own.

His wines express a certain freshness, where acidity, sugar and alcohol all line up and balance each other well. The wine is fermented using wild yeasts, without any sugar additions and the lowest possible rate of sulfites.  The wines are aged in a mix of both concrete vats and oak barrels.
