Domaine Ballandor vineyards spread across 10 hectares, in four separate parcels :

“Le Pressoir” – This parcel sits on sand and gravelly soils and is made up of sauvignon vines, selected especially for this terroir.

“Chaumoux” – a 1 hectare plot of old vines, situated in the commune of Brinay and planted on intensely clay gravel soils

“Le Clos des Victoires” – one and a half hectares of old vines in the Clos de Quincy, planted after the First World War on sandy clay soils

“Les Ballandors” – Just shy of two hectares, this plot was planted in 2004.

Over the years, the estate has grown through successive vineyard plantings. Today, there are six hectares of planted vines in the “le pressoir” parcel, where the vines compliment their surroundings – the iconic small village and its famous château. A variety of Sauvignon Blanc vines were chosen for the site, taking into account the quality of the clones and the characteristics of the grape. These deep sandy and gravelly soils produce very lively and expressive wines.

Two hectares of old vines were acquired in Chaumoux and Clos de la Victoire, on different soils composed of a clay-rich gravel, deposited on limestones.

The old vines have been preserved and planted in order to maintain a rich and diversified vineyard which allows us to produce fleshy wines of sometimes lingering and subtle expression. The principal cuvee of the estate, made up of a blend of all these wines, is characterized by its vivacity and fruitiness. The dominant sandy loam of the soil brings a lot of expression and character to these wines.
