LES TERRES D'OCRE

History of the estate

After ten years of experience in France, New Zealand and South Africa, Florent Barichard settled in 2013 on the sandy land of Châtel-de-Neuvre and the granite of Meillard. With the support of his aunt Valérie and his uncle Éric Nesson, who gave him a little less than half of their holdings, he runs his 9.5 hectare vineyard divided into 3.30 hectares of white grape varieties with Tresailler and Chardonnay and 6.20 hectares in red with Gamay and Pinot Noir. He works in sustainable agriculture involving more work and constant visits to the field. But according to Florent expressing the terroir well, it goes through that. The fruit of his work is expressed in tonicity, freshness; its wines are balanced, where bitterness, acidity, sugar and alcohol go hand in hand. The fermentations are made with indigenous yeasts, without adding sugar, and with the lowest possible proportions for sulphites. The wines are aged in concrete vats for the entry-level and in oak barrels for the two large cuvées.
